Chapter 14, Basic Strategy for solving an algebra problem for X.

This video describes a basic strategy for solving for X by doing the same thing to both sides. You're allowed to do whatever you want to both sides of the equation, as long as you do the same thing to both sides. The trick is to figure out what to do to get X all by itself on one side. Here's a basic strategy:

  1. Remove parentheses by multiplying
  2. Remove fractions by multiplying
  3. Get X to one side by itself
  4. Divide by the coefficient of X
